Start an Affiliate Marketing Business – Read Learn Apply

Affiliate Marketing is a simple, straight-forward agreement between a merchant and an affiliate. You, the marketer, are in charge to bring potential costumer to the merchant website. Every time a visitor of your site click on the affiliate link and make a purchase on the merchant site, you are rewarded by a commission that is a percentage of the sale (up to 75%).

The problem comes when the affiliate marketers try to reverse the success process. Instead of starting by building a site and bring people to it, they try making money.

Too many people, who are just getting started in affiliate marketing business, miss the logic process to follow to become successful and generate a consistent income. Affiliate marketing is not different to any other business or even science (here are human sciences), you need to read, learn and implement the knowledge.  So, the beginning is education and there are several steps till making money.

STEP1 – Educate Yourself: This is the first secret common to all the successful Affiliate marketer (and actually any successful person). To build a wealthy business you need foundation. So read and assimilate the rules and codes of internet marketing. You can find information on this site and in the resources I recommend. When you read, have always a piece of paper with you and take notes and come back to them as often as possible.

STEP2 – Understand how to use it: Very often novice Affiliate marketers put on forums: “I learn so much, I learn so much!”…. Yes, good for them. But rather than wasting their time writing useless posts online, they should try to understand how to use this new knowledge in a real Affiliate marketing business. When you read resources or follow training put the information into graph, it often help to give more sense and get the big picture.

STEP3 – Go into action: Educating yourself and understanding the business without putting it into action, it is like reading the manual of the computer and never pressing button “Power”. So, jump, do it, start your new Internet business. You might make mistakes – no problem, we all did some and learned from them.

STEP4 – Test and Modify: Of course some of your pages will receive more traffic than others, one method will give better results. So, adjust your website, advertising campaign and articles to optimise the results (more traffic and conversion). This is a never ending process if you want to. So give targets to yourself, when you reach them, you decide if you keep tweaking this campaign or if you start a new one.
