The idea is to sell your services to companies and webmasters. You can find on specialised sites, people advertising micro jobs like: Email account creation ($0.5/account), find Youtube video ($0.5/video), write 350 words article ($6.50/article)… and some more advanced freelance jobs like: Web design ($60 to $500/website), develop all kind of software, script and even Market Research or CAD design (from $20 to $20,000/project).

Like any other business in that world, the success in the Affiliate marketing business follow a model with its rules, traps and shortcuts… and often this shortcut don’t follow the rules and eventually get slap by the authority website (I’m talking about Google, Yahoo and other Search Engine or Ad networks). Let me give you an advise: If you really want to have a business online, either as extra cash (you can get $500/month for 1 or 2 hrs of work per week when everything is in place) or full time job (with 6 figure income as annual target), then get the right mind-set.

Be ready! Affiliate Marketing is a business so you have to dedicate some time to this activity. If you treat it like a business, you will have dedication and work toward targets, you will see things happen (money on your bank account .

At the end of the first month, I will have a website running, at least 35 articles, and about 10 backlinks per page and article from high PR sites + many from lower PR. This is my short term goals and it works well for me. The next step will be discussed in another post.

An online business is, as you can guess, a business. So, please treat it that way. You want to see any positive results (I’m talking about money in your bank account)? Then be prepared to spend time on it. Will you get rich online? I don’t know, it depends on you and the dedication to reach this goal.
Also, before jumping on the first “Get huge affiliate income program”, keep in mind that 90% of affiliates earn less than 100 dollars per month. So, don’t quite yet your day job yet. It doesn’t mean that you will fail doing it, just do it smartly. There is not such a short-cut path to get rich online, but here are some tips you can use to generate more commission:

1. Build a good website to be followed.

I don’t ask you to stuff your website with Flash animations or pictures everywhere. A good website should be simple and easy to navigate; the visitor must have a good experience visiting it. It should give information and answers to questions your visitors might have. This is your Niche market.

2. Search Engine Optimization is king!

Of course, you can bring traffic to your site with paying technique (CPC, CPA,CPI,…) that doesn’t require much SEO. But if you want keep your website at the top for years, without spending all your commission (and sometime more); you should consider making some modification to make it Search engine friendly. It’s a huge topic, everyone got his own theory on the best SEO practices… but at the end there is always same idea, with some adjustment depending on Search Engine algorithm update. Focus on a few keywords, use the keywords in titles, build backlink with authority website,… choose a relevant URL

3. Select the Right Merchant that sell

It’s not the easiest part. You will work with him, promoting his products and service. So, look at expertise and experience of the merchants. Profit per sale is good but an unhappy costumer will not come back to you and your advices, so check how many products they have launched in the markets and how many were successful. Other point: are they good in marketing? What’s the point to send traffic if he can’t convert in sales. Don’t expect to get riche online in affiliate marketing working with Merchant without track record of success.

4. Increase Traffic to Your Website

This is vital for most of the online business and especially for affiliate marketing, traffic. Getting massive traffic to your site is basically the key factor in this field. Keep in mind that generally 2 to 3% of your visitors will buy the product you promote, so it is important to get more and more traffic to your website. The most common techniques are email campaigns, banner exchange, RSS feeds, PPC, selection of the right keywords, SEO. etc.

5. Pre Sales to help sales

You are not the Merchant, you are just promoting a product, so do it right. People go on the Internet for different reasons, one of them is to find the solution to a problem. This is an opportunity that you can catch. Show to your visitors how your product can solve their problems, give also advice and review. If you promote Golf club, write some articles about swing technique to give the extra information that will make your site interesting for them. Rich website content is the way to build visitor loyalty.

The results won’t be immediate but with patience and determination you’ll get your goal. As you certainly read everywhere, promoting affiliate product is better done through your own website. It is true and recommended but other approaches are highly efficient as well. I would say that it depends on the Niche you focus on. Many other methods are available to run successful affiliate marketing without website. The list is long but I will review here only the most important that work for most of the campaign.

So, if you are absolutely not ready to build your website or Blog but decided to start an online business, you have to know that it will involve anyway some writing production from you (directly from you or outsourced). Now let’s discuss the best way to do affiliate marketing without a website.

Email Marketing

This is a very direct and efficient approach; people can click on your affiliate links present in your emails and can go directly to the merchant website to purchase the products/service. So, you can promote your affiliate products and you don’t need to bother about your website.

In the emails should contain the introduction about the product you are promoting and your affiliate links. The emails should be interesting (your personal test,) and brief.

To be successful with this method you must expand your contact list. Use as many sources as you can to grab new email addresses of people. This can be done using online forums, chat forums and even the social network like Facebook and Myspace. To get good results your email list should count a few hundred contacts, at least.

BIG WARNING: do not spam. All the people in your list must know you, otherwise you might be blocked by people and end-up identify as a Spammer by the email networks.

Offline Promotion

Affiliate marketing without website doesn’t necessarily mean low exposure! Many affiliate don’t think about this one, but the promotion of you link can be done offline, especially if you offer bonuses. You can use classified ads, flyers, etc. Likewise the email marketing, using the classified ads of a regional or national paper offer a large and direct exposure.

Another offline promotion can be networking: take part of (or organize) seminar or event related to your affiliate products. Be social with people and promote your offer (direct approach) and/or enlarge your email list (indirect approach).

Writing free e-books

You feel the writer spirit in you? Why not writing free e-books?!. It will be easy to read and helpful for the reader. The ebook should contain interesting information and the topic related to your affiliate products so you can recommend the products and put your link in the body.

Most of the time, affiliate marketing without website means going to people rather than them coming to you. This is the main idea of writing in forums. Look for at least three forums with a high page rank, where people discuss topic connected to your affiliate products that are related to your product and have high page rank. Register on it start some discussion in the section of the forum where maximum people are involved. Just post questions there or answer some questions of other members. But beware; don’t put any promotion text in the body of your posts, it’s not allowed. Instead you can to put your signature at the end of your post, which will contain name and your affiliate links.

When you become an active member of this forum then you can get a large exposure in search engine. It will result in targeted traffic to your merchant website through your affiliate links with potentially more sales of the products you are promoting.

Writing Articles

You like writing but starting an ebook scare you, then the article marketing is for you. Either you like affiliate marketing without website or you have your own blog, writing articles that you publish in the free article directories is always a great way to generate more traffic on your affiliate links. The idea is that some article directories have a massive traffic, so it is a chance for you to grab a part of this traffic. To do so you can embed your affiliate links in the text of your articles.

As you can read very often on the Internet, the use of a website to promote your affiliate products is a good idea, but as we seen it’s not an obligation. The methods presented can, of course, be used separately or combined to have more impact. The idea is to promote directly your affiliate links the merchant website instead of yours. It is a quick solution to start internet marketing as you don’t spend time building a site and very well targeted when you find the right forums and ads.

So, can we succeed in affiliate marketing without website?! Yes, but to be honest with you, building an email list is not that easy/quick to make. Also, keep in mind that you are sending traffic to the merchant website with the link located in your articles or ebook. So, if something happen: product not fashion any longer, better offer, merchant stop selling,…. then you lose all this traffic (an potential sale), because you can’t redirect to another product.

Now, my advice is: Yes, it’s possible and profitable to do affiliate marketing without website but if you really want to do a long run and consistent income, you will need a place where people will find you: a blog or a website. Like that, if you give the right recommendations, people will come back to you. So, yes, you can start with direct promotion but as soon as you can buy a domain name and create a blog.

Affiliate Marketing is a great and lucrative activity if done properly. As an entrepreneur with limited budget (even if you have money, you can certainly not compete with some leading companies), the major part of your Affiliate Marketing should be focus on Niche Market! Before to go further and explain how to find a Niche market, I would like to clarify this concept.

A Niche market is a group of people interested in a topic, or searching for a solution to a problem, and not being able to find a lot of relevant results. Most of the time the Niche is a sub part of a larger industry.

And you know what is interesting for your business; you can take advantage of a Niche and receive low-cost and highly relevant traffic for your Niche marketing website that answers to their problem. This audience is easier to target compare with the boarder topics as understand and see clearly the needs.

You have to keep in mind one big point about Niche market, at the moment advertiser use only 15 to 20% of all keywords available. So, it literately offers you millions of keywords to focus on. As I said earlier, the Niche is a sub category of an industry, so the keywords follow this logic.

Now, let’s see the process to find a Niche market. Say you are looking to promote a product within the furniture industry. Obviously the search term “TV” is not a Niche market, too broad and almost impossible to convert. So let’s dig down:

• LCD TV, Plasma TV, Cathodic TV
• 32” LCD TV, 42” LCD TV, 72” LCD TV
• White 72” LCD TV, 72” LCD TV with DVD player, 72” 3D LCD TV
• 72” 3D LCD TV with Blu-ray player….
• …… and so on.

In this example, I started with a keyword as broad as TV and expanded upon it, digging down several tiers until we found a niche.  “72” 3D LCD TV” is a niche, but “72” 3D LCD TV with Blu-ray player ” is an even more targeted niche.  You can take any keyword and break it down into smaller niches to obtain the first component of a “niche market”. I’m not saying that you should go out and sell giant TV with 3D glasses, but this is how you can dig down to find niche markets.

Personally I do this exercise with my wife. We seat 30min and do a brainstorming, drop on paper or on the screen all that come to our mind. The results can be funny and very far from the starting point.
